PCB editing, checks and fabrication export#

Edit supported PCB objects, review a saved revision and export the supported manufacturing subset.

Open the saved CAD project#

Open PCB Layout and select a native CAD project through the host’s file/project controls. Check the project name, saved revision, board outline, layer stack and units before editing. The circuit authoring JSON and imported DDS Digital Schematic are separate formats; switching workspaces does not turn either into a PCB.

In a Cloud host that offers saved CAD folders, choose or create a folder in the selected Cloud project. Stored CAD edits require a stopped project runtime and write permission. If the VM is running, review active work and stop it explicitly through the project controls before editing; the CAD dialog does not stop it for you.

Edit and save objects#

  1. Select a footprint, pad, track, via or supported board object and inspect Properties.

  2. Enter dimensions and coordinates in the displayed units. Review the layer, net and placement side.

  3. Apply/save through the offered native edit command and wait for its confirmed result.

  4. Use undo/redo or reload to inspect the saved revision before making another dependent change.

Moving a footprint or track point does not reroute connected copper automatically. A layer change does not repair connectivity. After geometry changes, rerun the relevant connectivity and design-rule checks with the intended explicit rules.

Review rules and coverage#

Use the available clearance, dimensional and declared-pin ERC controls. Enter the rule/profile source and revision you intend to use. Read violations, skipped checks and unsupported geometry together with the design revision. A report with no findings covers only the rules and geometry it actually checked.

Export fabrication files#

  1. Save the design and finish the supported checks.

  2. On a host with native export, choose File → Export fabrication and review the profile, supported layers, outline and hole geometry.

  3. Select a new export destination with the host picker. If a submission ZIP option is offered, review its stackup and any BOM/CPL data before confirming.

  4. Wait for the export receipt, then inspect the complete generated file set and hashes.

  5. Open the Gerber/drill output in an independent viewer and verify board size, layers, holes, sides and assembly coordinates before sending it to a supplier.

The exporter supports a bounded two-layer manufacturing workflow. Generated files and a supplier viewer preview are separate from DFM acceptance, correct catalog part matching, placement verification or physical manufacture. Cloud saved-CAD editing does not include this native manufacturing export.

Recover a save or export#

A stale revision requires a fresh read and another review. If the reply is lost, reload the project or inspect the chosen export directory before retrying. Preserve the source project and existing export set; do not overwrite them to hide an uncertain result. Keep the original design and export metadata with the handoff.
