Install on Linux#

Install the desktop package or the authenticated Linux CLI using its embedded release bootstrap.

Overview#

Install the approved Digital Design Studio Debian package on Debian / Ubuntu x86_64, or the separately verified CLI 0.1.9 Linux archive. ISA is included in Digital Design Studio. Check system requirements and back up projects before updating.

Get the Official Files#

Choose Digital Design Studio or Altifigence CLI on the official download page. No website login is needed. Complete Verify downloads in a fresh directory before installing or executing the files. Keep the CLI archive, catalog, catalog signature, and public key together.

Install a Desktop Application#

Download and verify the .deb, then run the block that matches the product. Replace VERSION with the version string in the filename you downloaded and verified. Downloads shows the filename format. Each block checks that the file exists before calling apt.

Using apt with the local file allows the operating system to resolve declared package dependencies. Do not use a renamed file without first confirming its checksum and signature.

Launch a Desktop Application#

Open the application menu and search for the product name, or launch it from a terminal:

Extract the CLI Preview#

Verify CLI 0.1.9 using the Ed25519 procedure before extraction. Keep the authenticated catalog and key outside the extracted directory. The archive contains 44 files, including 26 executables and their supporting contracts; preserve its directory structure.

Install the CLI#

The verified executable embeds the release helpers, contracts, and trust pin. No private repository, helper download, compilation, or network access is required by release install. It needs Linux root access and installed host utilities: Bash, OpenSSL, Python 3, jq, standard GNU file utilities, and setpriv from util-linux. A missing utility is reported; install only the missing prerequisite through your system’s package manager before retrying.

The prefix must be absolute and canonical. Its existing parent and ancestry must be root-owned and not writable by other users. /opt/altifigence-cli below uses the existing /opt parent; /usr/local is the command’s default. The Tcl runtime has a fixed location at /usr/lib/altifigence/tcl-runtime-component, independent of the prefix.

Run this only after all verification steps succeeded, using the absolute extracted binary path and a clean privileged environment:

The installer authenticates the catalog and payload, stages its own private snapshot, and creates the installed receipt and signed Tcl component. It refuses conflicting paths; do not delete existing runtime files to bypass a refusal. There is no public-key digest override.

Use the installed executable as your ordinary user:

Capability and Tcl commands require the installed layout. They are not blocked by the older flat-archive packaging limitation once this installation succeeds. Continue with CLI First Success.

Update or Remove#

There is no automatic desktop updater in this release. Download and verify the newly promoted .deb, then install it with apt. Keep the previous download until the new version opens your project successfully.

Remove a desktop package with one of these commands:

For the CLI, verify every new version before installing it. There is no automatic background updater. Preserve projects separately and resolve an existing installation through its verified uninstall contract, not manual deletion of binaries, receipts, or the fixed Tcl component.

To remove the matching 0.1.9 installation at the prefix used above:

The uninstaller verifies the selected release before removing its owned files. It must not be used to remove project data or unrelated software. Keep the verified archive and trust material if you need to reinstall that version.
