The project host and the account each determine which actions you can use. Start with the project you intend to work on.

Use Windows local tools

In the Windows app, you can open, edit and save local project files with or without signing in. Local Git, RTL compiler diagnostics and the optional testbench simulator are local tools. The Windows app does not require a device licence for these tools.

The testbench simulator runs on your PC. Enable its simulator extension and select a testbench before starting a run.

Use account services

Sign in to use AI, Cloud projects and remote Git connections. These services use the signed-in account and its organization access.

In Cloud, work in the intended authorized project. A settings page or a view identifies a place in the interface; it does not by itself grant execution permission.
