Understand preview and Run

Use preview for wafer geometry and yield estimates, and Run for lot completion and delivery.

Calculate geometry and yield

In Cloud or Windows 2.1.2.3, open vFactory → Wafer Process & Fab → Design to wafer. Calculate preview and Run design to wafer are separate actions. Both use the design source and the values shown in the form.

Import a source with Import DDS / tapeout source. On Cloud, a capable project can also offer Send to vFactory in the GDS viewer after a structure has been projected. This opens its design in Design to wafer, where you choose the route and lot quantities before running.

Select Calculate preview to view the 300 mm wafer map and Geometry and yield estimate. The preview calculates the die count, environment contribution to defect density and yield probabilities from the supplied assumptions. The map displays the geometry of the die rectangles.

Run the lot simulation

Select Run design to wafer to execute the reference fab lot simulation. On Cloud, choose Reference fab route, Lot count and Wafers per lot first. On Windows 2.1.2.3, set the lot quantities in the form before running.

A completed run adds Lot completion and delivery, including each lot’s status and times, Completed wafers, expected good dies and Overall delivery. The simulation executes locally in the application, including when you use Cloud.

Imported backend step durations contribute to delivery time.

Read the summary or follow a lot

A connected source project with available process files saves the completed result. Saved to project: shows the confirmed path. Open saved result later restores the saved inputs and summary.

After a new run, Follow lot {lot} in the 3D fab opens the events kept for that run. Use the saved summary to review results and the current run’s replay to follow a lot through the fab.

Use vFactory: explore a fab and follow a design to wafer

Open the reference fab in vFactory

Run your first process model in vFactory

The reference fab uses synthetic process assumptions. Results are model estimates.
