Run your first digital circuit

Use a two-input AND gate to read a time waveform and a truth table.

Follow these steps in the Windows app or Cloud workspace when your host offers Run digital simulation.

Open the digital sample

  1. In ALcad → Schematic, choose Circuit samples, then Two-input AND gate.

Run a time waveform

  1. In Digital analysis, choose Time waveform.

  2. Expand Digital simulation in Properties. Set Duration (s) to 2, IN1 Initial bits to 1 and IN2 Initial bits to 0.

  3. For IN2, choose Edit changes for IN2 and enter 1 1 in Input changes. This changes IN2 to 1 at one second.

  4. Choose Run digital simulation.

  5. When Digital simulation solved appears, inspect OUT1 in Time waveform. OUT1 changes from 0 to 1 at one second.

Run a truth table

  1. Choose Truth table in Digital analysis, then Run truth table.

  2. Read the four combinations of IN1 and IN2. OUT1 is 1 for the row where both inputs are 1.
