Save your first file

Open a text file from Explorer, save a small edit and reopen the project to check it.

Open a file

Follow First launch to open your project. These steps apply to a Cloud project or a My PC project in the Windows app.

  1. Check the project name and location before editing.

  2. In Explorer, select an editable text file. Its contents open in an editor tab.

Edit and save

  1. Make a small change, such as a comment in a source file.

  2. Keep the file active and press Ctrl+S. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+P to open Command Palette, then select Save File.

  3. Wait for the unsaved marker to clear before closing the file.

Check the saved file

  1. Close the project window and reopen the same project in the same location.

  2. Select the same file in Explorer and confirm that your edit is present.
