Use local XLS tools over MCP

Connect the verified Linux CLI to a stdio client and use the local XLS tools.

On Linux x86_64, use the local XLS mode of Altifigence CLI to check and evaluate inline DSLX or XLS IR source.

Connect the local tools

  1. Install the verified Linux x86_64 bundle described in the Altifigence CLI guide.

  2. In your MCP client's stdio settings, set the command to the absolute path of the installed alti-mcp executable and leave its argument list empty. Keep alti-xls beside it in the verified installation.

  3. Set the server process's ALTI_MCP_MODE environment variable to local-xls, then connect.

  4. Refresh the client's tool list. Call altifigence.local.xls.capabilities with {} and inspect the returned engine capabilities and execution receipt.

Use the source tools

The local tools run the sibling XLS engine on the CPU:

  • altifigence.local.xls.capabilities — Inspect the engine capabilities.

  • altifigence.local.xls.check — Check source.

  • altifigence.local.xls.eval — Evaluate source with input vectors.

  • altifigence.local.xls.optimize — Optimize XLS IR.

  • altifigence.local.xls.codegen — Generate RTL.

For a source operation, supply input_kind (dslx or xls-ir), inline source and the top function's name in top. For eval, also supply vectors as arrays of string values. For codegen, you can supply pipeline with a stages value from 1 to 16.

Check isError before using the result. A successful engine call returns engine and receipt in structuredContent.
