Read a digital schematic

Open a saved digital schematic and inspect its captured hierarchy, nets and RTL source locations.

Use ALcad in Cloud 2.1.2.10 or the Windows app 2.1.2.3. Start with a saved DDS schematic JSON file or a Digital Schematic bundle.

Open the saved schematic

  1. In the ALcad schematic workspace, choose Open Digital Schematic in the toolbar and select your JSON file.

  2. Choose View → Panels → Hierarchy to show the hierarchy and net list.

  3. Choose View → Panels → Properties to show details for the selected item.

Explore the hierarchy and nets

  1. Use Search instances and nets to filter the hierarchy and the current view's nets.

  2. Select an available entry under Hierarchy to open its captured view. You can also select an instance in the diagram and choose Enter instance when the button is available.

  3. Use Up one hierarchy to return to an available parent view.

  4. Select a net under Nets. Read its Width, Compiler net name and Compiler net ID in the properties panel.

  5. Select an object or port, then select an entry under Connected nets to inspect that net.

Read a source location

  1. Select an object, port or net with a Source location, then select the displayed path and line.

  2. When the imported file includes that source text, Captured RTL source shows the surrounding lines and marks the captured line.

  3. Open Details to check the compiler and file identities under Result source.
