Save and reopen an editable solid

Download a solid document and reopen its applied features to continue editing.

In Cloud and the Windows app, ALcad 3D CAD keeps the solid's name and applied features in an editable .alcad-solid.json document.

Download the document

  1. With your project open, use the workspace selector in the header to choose ALcad → 3D CAD.

  2. If the feature list is hidden, choose Toggle solid features. To edit a feature, right-click it and choose Edit properties.

  3. Finish any feature edits with Apply dimensions. To name the document and its downloaded file, edit Document name and press Enter.

  4. Choose Download solid in the toolbar. Keep the downloaded .alcad-solid.json file.

Reopen the document

  1. Before opening another file, use Download solid to keep a copy of your current applied document.

  2. Choose Open solid and select the saved .alcad-solid.json file.

  3. If the feature list is hidden, choose Toggle solid features. In Features, right-click a feature and choose Edit properties to review its applied values in Feature properties.

  4. Make your changes and choose Apply dimensions. Download the document again to keep those changes.
