Calculate an RLC response
Set an AC frequency sweep or a transient step response and inspect its waveform in ALcad.
Use these steps in Cloud 2.1.2.10 or Windows 2.1.2.3. Sign in and select an organization with browser analysis access. Open an analog circuit with resistors, inductors or capacitors, independent voltage or current sources, and ground.
Choose the analysis
In Circuit analysis, select AC frequency sweep or Transient step response.
In the inspector, expand the heading for the selected analysis to edit its settings.
Set an AC sweep
Choose AC source. Set AC amplitude (V) for a voltage source or AC amplitude (A) for a current source, and set Source phase (°).
Set Start frequency (Hz), Stop frequency (Hz) and Logarithmic points. The sweep excites the selected source.
Set a step response
Set Duration (s) and Time steps. The calculation starts with zero capacitor voltage and zero inductor current, and steps the DC sources from zero at t=0.
Run and inspect the response
Select Run RLC analysis.
Choose a Waveform trace and select Add trace. For AC results, use Waveform display to choose Magnitude, Phase, Real or Imaginary.
Move Waveform sample to read a sampled value.
Select Download RLC result JSON or Download RLC result CSV to save the results.
