Circuit file versions

Understand how ALcad records the parts and settings in an editable circuit file.

ALcad records a circuit's parts, connections and settings in a versioned document. This version is called its schema.

The schema follows the circuit parts

  1. New circuit: v8

  2. Add parts

  3. Required schema

For example: power components use v21

  4. Download circuit

Open an existing circuit

The current Cloud and Windows versions of ALcad read circuit documents with schemas from alcad.circuit/v1 through alcad.circuit/v21. ALcad checks the document's parts, settings and connections when it opens the file.

Add parts and save

A new circuit starts with schema alcad.circuit/v8. As you add parts that use a newer schema, ALcad selects the schema needed to store them. For example, power components use alcad.circuit/v21.

Choose Download circuit to keep an editable .alcad-circuit.json file with the document's schema, parts and connections.
