Export a solid mesh as STL or OBJ
Export a calculated triangle mesh in millimeters and keep an editable solid document.
In Cloud and the Windows app, ALcad 3D CAD exports the current calculated triangle mesh as STL or OBJ.
Prepare the mesh
With your project open, use the workspace selector in the header to choose ALcad → 3D CAD and open your solid.
If the feature list is hidden, choose Toggle solid features. Right-click a feature and choose Edit properties to edit it. Finish edits with Apply dimensions.
Wait for the mesh preview and the Volume, Surface area and triangle count to appear. The export controls become available for a mesh with triangles.
Choose Download solid to keep an editable .alcad-solid.json copy.
Choose an export format
Check scale and orientation when opening the exported mesh. Use the editable solid document when you want to continue working on the feature history.
Choose Export STL (mm) to download a binary .stl file. Set millimeters as the unit when importing it into a tool that asks for a unit.
Choose Export OBJ (mm, Z up) to download an .obj file with millimeter coordinates and Z pointing up. The filename ends in -mm-Zup.obj.
