Import a fab model as a layout

Open a complete fab-model JSON file in Reference fab and check the generated layout preview.

Use Import fab layout to turn a complete fab model into a layout preview. These steps apply to vFactory in Cloud and the Windows app.

Prepare the model

Choose a JSON file with schema altifigence.fab-model/v1 or altifigence.fab-model/v2, up to 32 MiB (33,554,432 bytes). A saved simulation input containing the model is also accepted.

The model needs equipment groups and routes. Equipment capacities must be positive whole numbers, group and route IDs must be unique, and route operations must refer to existing equipment. The generated layout supports up to 8,192 tools.

Import the layout

  1. Open vFactory and select Reference fab. For the initial navigation, see the reference-fab guide below.

  2. Select Fab settings, the gear button in the scene toolbar, then expand Fab setup.

  3. Select Import fab layout and choose the JSON file.

  4. When the layout appears, reopen Fab settings. Check the model name, the imported-layout preview text and the summary of tools, tool groups, zones and OHT ports.

Check the import

If Fab layout could not be opened appears, read the message and correct that input problem before importing again.

For a file above 32 MiB, choose a file within the size limit. For an unsupported schema, choose an exported fab-model/v1 or fab-model/v2 JSON file. For an incomplete import preview, complete the model import first.

For equipment or route errors, correct the reported IDs, capacities or route references in the model before choosing the file again.

The imported view previews the layout; process parameters are validated by the simulator.

Open the reference fab in vFactory

The supplied reference fab is an example. Its layout and process data are assumptions, not data from a real fab.
