Opening a view, changing settings and running a tool

Distinguish navigation, project settings and a local simulation in Digital Design Studio.

Flow Navigator brings views, settings and run entries together. Each entry has a different purpose.

Open a view

In a Windows or Cloud project, Project Manager → Sources opens the Explorer, which shows its last-used view (hierarchy by default). Opening a view changes what you see in the workspace.

Change settings

In a Windows or Cloud project, Project Manager → Settings opens project settings. Simulation → Simulation Settings opens the simulation settings. Use a settings entry to configure the project; opening it does not start a simulation.

Start a local simulation

In the Windows app, when working locally without signing in, Simulation → Run Simulation opens the simulation tab. With the simulator extension enabled, the tab offers Testbench.

In Testbench, choose the testbench and simulator, then select Run to start the simulation on your PC. Run saves changed source files first and checks that the simulator is installed. Read the simulator log and, when the testbench produces one, its waveform.
