Preview and apply an RTL symbol rename on Windows

Review the files and edits for a symbol rename, then confirm the change on Windows.

Use Digital Design Studio 2.1.2.3 for Windows with a writable local Verilog or SystemVerilog project. Save your edits before starting.

Preview the new name

  1. Open a saved .sv or .v file and place the cursor on the symbol to rename.

  2. Open the editor context menu and choose Edit → Preview symbol rename….

  3. Enter a simple identifier such as data_ready in New name, then select Preview.

  4. Review the affected file paths and each old and new name shown in the preview.

Confirm or close the preview

  1. To leave the files as they are, select Close.

  2. To apply the reviewed edits, check for Can apply, select Apply…, then select Apply in the confirmation.

  3. Read the result. The symbol was renamed. confirms the change.
