Run an FDTD2D simulation

Create a saved request, check it and run an FDTD2D simulation on this device's CPU.

Use a Cloud 2.1.2.10 project or a Local project in Digital Design Studio for Windows 2.1.2.3. Sign in with an active paid plan and select an organization with access to FDTD2D computation. The simulation runs on this device's CPU. You need write access to the project.

Create a saved request

  1. Open Analysis in the activity rail, then choose New analysis.

  2. Choose FDTD2D.

  3. Choose New example. The app saves a request JSON file in the project and fills in its path.

The example simulates a vacuum cavity with perfect electric conductor boundaries.

Check and run the request

  1. Choose Run preflight to inspect the saved request's grid, CFL value, memory and probes.

  2. Choose Run simulation.

  3. Review the final electric field, probe trace and energy drift in FDTD2D result.

Choose Cancel to stop an active simulation.
