Inspect a testbench waveform

Find signals, compare cursor values and replay a waveform from a local Windows testbench run.

Use a waveform written by a testbench run in a local project in Digital Design Studio 2.1.2.3 for Windows.

Open the run waveform

  1. In Testbench simulation, select the Testbench, Simulator and Waveform format, then choose Run.

  2. When the run writes a waveform, it opens below the result. Select Play, then Pause to inspect it.

Find signals and compare times

Type part of a signal name in Filter…. Select a signal name to inspect it. Choose HEX, DEC or BIN to change the value display.

Use Zoom in and Zoom out to inspect the time range. Ctrl-click the waveform to place cursor A; Ctrl-Shift-click to place cursor B. Read the values at A and B and the time difference between them.

Replay the recording

Use Play, Pause and Stop to control playback. The speed control cycles through 1x, 2x and 4x. Use Go to start or Go to end to move to the start or end of the recording.
