Enter missing Git author details

Enter the author details requested at commit and check saved, staged changes in a local Windows project.

In the Windows app, open a Git project in a folder on your PC. When a commit needs author details, DDS shows author fields in Source Control.

Check the saved changes

  1. Save the files you changed, then open Source Control and choose Refresh.

  2. Review the files in Staged, enter a Commit message and choose Commit.

A commit records the staged file contents. If you edit a file after staging it, save and stage those later edits before including them in a commit.

Enter the requested author details

  1. When the author fields appear beneath Commit, enter Author name and Author email.

  2. Choose Save and commit.

Author details are saved only in this repository.

The form also needs a commit message and staged files. After a successful commit, the author form closes and the commit message clears.

Check the commit result

If Unable to refresh Git status. appears after committing, choose Refresh and open History to check for the commit before you try to create another one.
