Compare files in split editors

Place two file tabs side by side in Digital Design Studio, then bring them back into one editor group.

Compare two files

Use these steps in Cloud or the Windows app. Start with a project open in Digital Design Studio.

  1. Open the two files you want to compare so both have editor tabs.

  2. Right-click the tab you want on the right and choose Split editor → Open to the Right.

  3. Read the two files side by side. Select a tab in either editor group to work in that group.

Two editor groups side by side. The left group shows top.sv, the module top with the clk, rst_n and ready ports. The right group shows top_tb.sv, the testbench module top_tb, with the breadcrumb transfer-rtl-starter › tb › top_tb.sv.

After Split editor → Open to the Right on the top_tb.sv tab, the two files are shown in two editor groups.

Return to one editor group

  1. Right-click an editor tab and choose Split editor → Close Split. The open tabs return to one editor group.
