Create an encoding format declaration

Add a named bit layout to an empty CX document.

These steps apply to Cloud 2.1.2.10 and Windows 2.1.2.3. On Windows, sign in first. Open a project you can edit and start with an empty CX document.

Create and save the declaration

  1. In Digital Design Studio, open Flow Navigator → ISA Design → ISA Authoring.

  2. Use the CX document selector in the ISA panel to choose an empty, writable CX file. In a project with no CX files, authoring starts with an empty main.cx.

  3. Open the ISA panel, then choose Model → Encoding → Encoding.

  4. Under Encoding formats, select New format to open the declaration form.

  5. In CX declaration, replace NEW_FORMAT with Basic32, WIDTH with 32, FIELD with opcode, HIGH with 31, and LOW with 0. Keep the enclosing braces.

  6. Select Apply to CX to put the declaration in the CX source.

  7. Select Save ISA source to save the CX document.
