Search project files

Find files and text in your project, then open a result in the editor.

Start a project search

These steps apply to Cloud and the Windows app. Open your project in Digital Design Studio. For the window layout, see Workspace.

  1. Select Search in the workspace rail.

  2. Enter a file name, part of a path, or text in the Search field. Results update as you type.

Open a result

  1. Under Files, select a result to open that file. Check the path beneath its name.

  2. In a file group, select the text match showing the line, column and preview. The editor opens the file at that line.

  3. Select a file group heading to collapse or expand its matches.

The Search view with top entered in the Search field and the Aa, ab, .* and Replace buttons. The summary reads 22 in 5 files. Files (2) lists top.sv and top_tb.sv with their paths transfer-rtl-starter/rtl/top.sv and transfer-rtl-starter/tb/top_tb.sv. The experiment.py group shows 6 text matches, each with its line and column, such as L12:19, and a preview of the matching line.

Searching the project for top: file names match under Files, and text matches are grouped by file with line, column and preview.

Refine the search

Use Aa (Match case), ab (Whole word), or .* (Regular expression) to change content matching. Edit the query to update the results.

The summary shows the number of text matches and files. To start again, replace or clear the text in the Search field.
